The area's premier battle of the bands is ready to kick off. The first round starts Wednesday, July 8 at Kelly's Logan House, as Three Legged Fox play against Spokey Speaky @ 11:30 p.m.

The Chicago band's seventh album leaked online in mid-May & soon became streamable through their website. Still, there's no shortage of excitement surrounding the release, as well as the band's upcoming show at Frawley Stadium. Check out the July issue of O&A, out this week, for an interview with long-time bassist John Stirratt.

On Thursday, July 9, Theatre N will show the 2002 documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart at 9 p.m., right after the first CityLife Block Party & a night before Wilco play Frawley Stadium. The Sam Jones-directed film takes an up-close & personal look at the making & un-making of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, the band's breakthrough album.

Hot Sauce Committee (Part 1), the band's eighth studio album (if you count The Mix-Up), is out Sept. 15. PLUS: Ill Communication & Hello Nasty get reissued.
